Mozart, as he’s often simply called, was a composer and his name is among the greatest musicians of all time. A child prodigy, he began composing at age five under the tutelage of his father, who, knowing his talents, made several trips to introduce his son and daughter Nannerl to European royalty.

Thanks to these trips Mozart acquired recognition and admiration and devoted his life to the composition of concerts, operas, symphonies, sonatas and quartets. At age 16, he had already run three operas in the city of Milan and on the early 1770s he was a member of the Orchestra of Salzburg. He later traveled to Paris and Mannheim in search of a better paid job as a musician, although he returned to Salzburg and composed his first great opera, Idomeneo, re di Creta, in 1781.
